Main Objetives and Activities
- Deepen in the field of autonomous cooperative driving.
- Develop and test ADAS systems, focusing on speed control systems and environment perception.
- Develop driver assistance solutions based on the automation of vehicle controls.
- Introduce communication technologies in the previous systems in order to extend the information and the “electronic horizon” from the positioning of the vehicle in digital maps.
- Develop new high and low level automation architectures for diverse applications and services.
- Deploy cooperative services in real scenarios.
- Analizar la adecuación de los interfaces con el usuario de estos sistemas.

| Felipe Jiménez es Catedrático de Universidad y Subdirector de Investigación de INSIA y responsable de la línea de Sistemas Inteligentes en Vehículos. En la actualidad, es Coordinador de la subárea de Transportes en la Agencia Estatal de Investigación y secretario del Foro de Ingeniería del Transporte. Las contribuciones en materia de investigación están orientadas hacia sistemas de asistencia, percepción del entorno y conducción autónoma cooperativa. Ha participado en más de 60 proyectos europeos, nacionales y regionales. Sus trabajos han dado lugar a la publicación de más de 70 artículos en revistas, 7 libros y más de 160 comunicaciones en congresos. Ha recibido diversos premios como el Premio a la Proyección Investigadora de la UPM, Premio a la Investigación de la Fundación Eduardo Barreiros, Medalla Agustín de Betancourt y Molina por la Real Academia de Ingeniería y el Premio ITS en el Vehículo por ITS España. |

José Eugenio Naranjo. Researcher

José Eugenio Naranjo (PhD in Computer Science) is Professor of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. His research area includes Intelligent Systems and Automation Engineering, Intelligent Transport Systems, intelligent control and autonomous vehicle navigation, focusing on defense applications. Prof. Naranjo is principal investigator of more than 20 research projects, as part of the University Institute for Automobile Research (INSIA) and is author of more than 100 scientific publications. As part of these projects, prof. Naranjo has experience in AI/ML platforms, ML/AI models and associated challenges. Prof. Naranjo has received five awards in the field of research of intelligent and automated mobility. Prof. Naranjo is a member of several scientific and editorial committees, among which we can highlight his role as editor of the IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems magazine, belonging to the organizing committees of the most relevant conferences in the sector such as the IEEE Intelligent Vehicle Symposium and the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference., Being also a member of the Society of Intelligent Transport Systems of IEEE, holding the position of Vice President in the Spanish Committee of IEEE-ITS. Additionally, prof. Naranjo belongs to the panel of experts of the European Commission for the area of ICT for Transport and GNSS-Galileo, serving as an evaluator and reviewer of European projects from 2007 to the present, in FP7, H2020, HE and EDF, exploiting excellent writing and communication skills. Prof. Naranjo has also experience in collaboration with defense industry and the Spanish Ministry of Defense on for the conduct of scientific and experimentation on technologies focused to Spanish Army. |
